The Art

Mother Nature offers every single ingredient we could possibly need to lead full and healthy lives. We as a species have evolved in technology and culture, adapting to methods of modern convenience in place of quality. 

Particularly in the world of cosmetics, this began back during WWII when hygiene was especially important among troops to keep the rates of disease and illness as low as possible. Due to transportation, costs, scarcity, and practicalities the natural ingredients were replaced with synthetic chemicals to prolong product shelf-life, keep costs low, and so on. 
This clearly never reverted back to the way it should have always been as the beauty industry continued to grow exponentially on this new trajectory. 

Now, 100 years later, the war has ended and we are only JUST starting to see all-natural skincare return to the scene (in a noticeable way). 
Unfortunately, we've had an entire century to develop synthetic toxins that are being linked to a slough of health issues from breast cancer to skin irritants and everything in between! 

In more recent years, the health food industry has been gaining traction and folks are starting to pay attention to their food ingredient labels. This is excellent! But, if you would pay attention to what goes in your mouth (and, therefore, your body)- why would you not also take heed to what's in those skincare products!? 
Around 60% of what we put on our bodies gets absorbed into our bodies. 

 

Let that sink in (no pun intended ;) ). 

 

It is critically important to read those skincare labels. If you can't pronounce it, you probably shouldn't put it on. Just because a label says "all-natural"- sadly, doesn't mean that it is.
